Abstract

N -(2-Cyano-3-formylamino-3-hydroxyallylidene)-1,3,5-triphenylpyraz- ole-4-acetic acid hydrazide (I) and its tautomers and acid-addn. salts, are new cpds. (I) has anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity. Its anti-inflammatory LD20 is 1.4 mg./kg./day (cf. 2.2 for indomethacin) and its LD5 is 1.4 mg./kg./day (indomethacin =2.2). In an example, (I) is prepd. by reacting 3-ethoxy-2-cyano-N-formylacrylamide with 1,3,5-triphenylpyrazole-4-acetic acid hydrazide.
