Abstract

An oven for the thermal processing of solid fuel by the cross flow of a heat transport gas has two vertical grates which divide it into three spaces for gas distribution, low-temperature carbonisation and for the steam/gas mixture. The grates end at the bottom with a projecting part in the middle and higher parts on both sides towards the walls. This equalizes the flow rate of the solid fuel over the cross-section of the low-temperature carbonization space. The better heat and mass exchange conditions result in a higher oven throughput, better fuel processing and an increased thermal efficiency of the process.
