Abstract
The system allows discharge of fluids from a wound in a living body, being used in conjunction with a drain, part of which is inside the patient's body. It comprises a sheet of gelatinous material (14) of dimensions sufficient to cover the wound, the drain (16) and the surrounding area, a hole being formed in it to expose the wound and drain. A ring (21) of distorting but sufficiently stiff material is sealed to the edge of the hole and has sealed to it in turn a transparent cover (22), which can be removed to give access to the drain etc. The sheet of gelatinous material can be secured to a sheet of soft flexible plastic stuck to the body surrounding the wound.
