Abstract

A disinfectant capsule (3, 5) for the earpiece or mouthpiece of a telephone comprises a chamber in which a disinfectant and perfume (6) is contained and an elastic border (8) for example of rubber which is stretched over the earpiece or mouthpiece edge to retain the capsule in position. The disinfectant is conveniently in the form of a lozenge or pad. For a telephone with an unusually shaped mouthpiece or earpiece the capsule can be retained in position using clips. A capsule on the mouthpiece and earpiece of a phone provides suitable protection against bacteria.
