Abstract

Servo system for controlling the position of a magnetic reading head (1) relative to the centre of a selected information track on a tape (2). The tape will contain a number of recorded data signals on tracks and long wave track searching signals on servo tracks. The head will pick up the useful information and the servo data to produce a composite signal. The composite signal is resolved in a circuit which separates the servo information for control purposes (3) and transmits the useful signals. The track selection signals are also written into the information tracks. The head will pick up all the information in the selected track and those in adjacent tracks simultaneously.
