Abstract
Process for preparing compounds (I) and (II):- X = NH2, the free valencies in (I) and (II) are satisfied by H or monovalent hydrocarbon radicals (e.g. alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl). Corrosion inhibitors, some are antiviral. A mixture of 10 g. of 1-bromotricyclo 3.3.1.1.3,7-decane and 13 g. of anhydrous NH3 were heated with shaking in a sealed reactor at 200 deg.C for 6 hr. and cooled to room temp. The excess NH3 was allowed to evaporate, the product was dissolved in 200 ml. of 1NHCl and extracted with ether. The aqueous soln. was made alkaline by addition of 200 ml. of 50% NaOH, and extracted with ether. The ether extract was dried (K2CO3) and evaporated to dryness to give 4.1 g. of tricyclo 3.3.1.1.3,7-decane-1-amine.
