Abstract

The seismic system involves the use of a train of explosive charges at successively larger spacings and increasing gas volumes situated at a similar depth below the water surface. Each of the charges (18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30) is supported by its own float (32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44). The number of units is not greater than seven. Each air chamber attached to the cannon has a secondary chamber with a volume of about one-third of the first chamber to generate a secondary seismic wave. The time intervals between the detonation of the charges is regulated by a control circuit. The connecting cable to the survey vessel is connected at the end nearest the largest explosive charge.
