Abstract

A burner system for variable flows of waste gas has a vertical chimney with a constant cross section and a burner region near the bottom. The burning is improved by the following measures. (A) at least one burner is placed so as to direct the gas in a particular direction in teh chimney. It has a gas feed line with a perforated plate coaxial with it and some distance in front of its end. The line has a narrow opening at its end and other openings pointing to other parts of the perforated plate. (B) an opening round the burner for air to be drawn in. The combined area of the openings for all the burners is not >90% of the chimney cross-section. (C) A way of delivering the gas under pressure. (D) A way of mixing gas and air in the vicinity of the burner to ensure even burning at all flow rates and temps. (E) An igniter. Complete burining is achieved and hence min. pollution, at varying flow rates. Lower and less costly chimneys are required.
