Abstract

The capsules are pref. H2O-sol. and prepd. from gelatine opt. with polyethylene oxides and/or high mol.wt. carbohydrates, are partially filled with (a) a therapeutic agent, (b) an effervescent mixt i.e. a carbonate or bicarbonate and an acid, and (c) a foaming agent, pref. a non-ionogenic surfactant. Prior to insertion, water is introduced into the capsules, to initiate the reaction and so that the mucous membranes do not suffer the imitation which the use of a dry compsn. would cause by dehydration.
