Abstract

Reactor for continuous polymsn. e.g. of styrene, has a ribbon or screw type stirrer and an auxiliary stirrer pref. contg. paddles, discs or cones arranged in the viscosity of the reactor inlet. The auxiliary stirrer is rotatable,a nd can separate the mass in the reaction into upwards and downwards streams. Easy control of reaction temp. is possible, and polymer of uniform quality is achieved.
