Abstract

Groove formation in hollow profiles of thermoplastic material is effected by pressing a ring of deformable material with an outer diameter similar to that of the inner diameter of the groove to be formed in the profile against the inner surface of the profile by means of a first pressure medium acting on the outside of the ring. Grooves of the desired depth and profile are obtd. simply without damaging the hollow profile, and the ring has a long operational life.
