Abstract
Waste water is subjected to treatment with urease and the NH3 and CO2 formed are removed opt. after reaction to form other products. The pref. source of urease is cultures of Bac. pasteurii at pH 8-11. Other sources e.g. soybean urease may be used. During treatment with urease, O2 or air is pref. led through. For max growth, the cultures should be grown in water contg min 0.1% pref. 0.5% ammoniumsulphate and yeast extract is pref. added.
