Halogenated copolymers of ethylene, another alpha olefine (I), and a polyunsaturated compound, m-alkyl-tetrahydroindene, or a derivative of norbornene-2 e.g. 5-isopropenyl-norbornene-2. Molecular halogen is reacted with the copolymer below 80 degrees C at 1/2-20 moles/gram. equivalent of unsaturation. The copolymers are used for automobile tyres. They contain 20 - 74.7 wt.% ethylene, 25 - 79.7% of (I) and 0.3 - 20% halogenated hydrocarbon.
