Abstract

At least one (co)polymer of conjugated diene, with unsatd. bonds in the main and/or side chains is contacted with a catalyst comprising >=1 cpd. of formula R2AlX or R3Al2X3 (where R is 1-12C alkyl and X is halogen) and >=1 org. halogen cpd. e.g. catalyst system Et2AlCl/1,4-dichlorobutene-2 is suitable. Claimed catalyst system is highly efficient, a high degree of cyclisation being obtd.
