Abstract

4-Hydroxy -1H-pyrazolo 3,4-d pyrimidine (I) is prepared by reaction of 3-amino-4-carbalkoxypyrazole with tri-ethyl or methyl orthoformate at 60-140 degrees, followed by condensation of the intermediate formiminoether with ammonia. I is a known anti-arthritic.
