Abstract

Column into which mixture is passed has a cooling device at one end and a heating device at the other. A liquid and a crystallised phase pass in counter-current inside the column, which comprises a tank, divided by partitions perpendicular to the flow into mixing chambers. In each of these is an agitator. The phases are transferred between chambers through passages, through which the major part of the liquid phase and the whole of the crystallised phase pass in counter-current and in contact.
