Abstract

The ratio of beta -isomer to alpha -isomer in a mixture of alpha -to beta -isopropylnaphthalene is increased by treating the mixture with at least 1% of a solid phosphoric acid catalyst, referred to wt. of the mixture, at is approx. 200-400 degrees C. Process may be performed batchwise at 350 degrees-400 degrees C, or continuously at 200 degrees-350 degrees C.
