Abstract

A process for modifying bituminous materials for road surfacing by adding a rubbery material, thoroughly mixing the two when the rubbery material is in a liquid or semi-liquid state of a low degree of polymerisation in which it does not have a modifying effect, and to it a modifying effect by vulcanisation in situ. Rapid and efficient mixing results from incorporating the rubbery material in a low state of polymerisation.
