Abstract

Hollow plastics articles are made by placing expandable plastics tubing in a mould of the desired configuration and expanded into conformity with the mould. Fluid is initially introduced into the tubing at a pressure sufficient to expand at least a portion of the tubing adjacent to the end or neck-forming portion of the mould so that part of the tubing contacts the mould to part from that portion of the article. The applied fluid pressure is then increased to expand the tubing into the final configuration in the mould. Pressure is also exerted by press moulding to complete formation of the neck portion with any associated external threads.
