[Also in Divisions C4 and G2] A light transmitting screen comprises a photochromic filter and a blind which provides light paths with opaque, non-light-reflecting boundaries which prevent light rays at incident angles above a certain limit reaching the filter. A sunglass lens comprises a filter 13 of glass impregnated with silver halide crystals and a blind consisting of a plurality of adjacent small passages 15 of circular, square or polygonal cross-section having radiation absorbent walls. Other filters, e.g. a polarizing layer, may be incorporated in the lens. The photochromic filter may be of liquid, organic or inorganic material, rigid or resilient and may comprise a coating on a glass or plastics substrate. Other forms of blind include a venetian blind structure or a sandwich of transparent sheets each having a pattern printed on one side. The screen may be used for windscreens, windows and protection against nuclear flash; light passing through the screen falls on the eye, or on recording material such as photo-electric or photo-resistive cells.
