Description

Nail polish file
FIELD OF THE INVENTION The invention is in the field of a nail file, specifically a nail polish file. Said nail polish file may be used in addi- tion to coating nails, or as an alternative thereto. In fact results without an otherwise provided coating are very satis- factory, such as in terms of gloss. The nail file is provided on refurbished parts.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION A nail file is a tool used to gently grind down and shape the edges of nails. They are often used in manicures and pedi- cures after the nail has been trimmed using appropriate nail clippers. They are used by manicurists to shape and smooth the nail during manicure and pedicure. The nails may be artificial or natural nails. Nail files may be emery boards, ceramic, glass, crystal, plain metal files or metal files coated with corundum. Typically an abrasive material is provided on a top surface of the file. Emery boards are often small flat long objects. These may have abrasive paper glued on them. Files are typically both abrasive and flexible. Emery boards are in- expensive and disposable, making them a sanitary alternative to metal nail files. Depending on the abrasive material may take longer or shorter to file down nails. The nail can be smoothed and shaped accurately by taking light, even strokes in one direc- tion across the top of the nail. Nail files may be used for other purposes as well, typi- cally involving polishing down or smoothening a surface. The prior art nail polish files are somewhat difficult to handle. Also results depend on skills of a user. It is typi- cally very difficult to reach nails with very glossy appear- ance. The present invention therefore relates to an improved nail polish file, which overcomes one or more of the above disadvantages, without jeopardizing functionality and ad- vantages.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates in a first aspect to a nail polish file, typically used for manicure and pedicure which may be used for natural and artificial nails, preferably for natural nails. The present nail polish file comprises a tooth file head for an electrical tooth file, wherein the tooth file is void of bristles, comprising a holder for trans- lating linear motion into rotational motion, characterized in that the tooth file head is provided with an abrasive materi- al. Therewith nails can be polished up to very high degrees, with a very low surface roughness (ISO 4287:1997), typically below a visual perceptions, such as with a ISO grade roughness of <50 pm, and depending on the file chosen <10 um, such as <5 un. The nails appear to be extremely glossy. For polishing use can be made of an electrical tooth brush, to which the tooth file head can be applied. Polishing for 5-30 seconds, per nail, is typically sufficient. Therewith also nail irregulari- ties can be removed easily. In a second aspect the present invention relates to a kit of parts comprising at least two nail polish files according to the invention, each nail polish file provided with a dif- ferent abrasive material, preferably 3-5 nail polish files. In a third aspect the present invention relates to a meth- od of polishing, comprising providing a nail polish file ac- cording to the invention or a kit of parts according to the invention, putting the nail polish file on an electrical tooth brush, and polishing and/or sanding. Thereby the present invention provides a solution to one or more of the above-mentioned problems. Advantages of the present invention are detailed through- out the description.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates in a first aspect to a nail polish file according to claim 1. In an exemplary embodiment of the present nail polish file the abrasive material is sandpaper or glass paper. In an exemplary embodiment of the present nail polish file the abrasive material has a grit size <100 um (P150 ISO/FEPA Grit designation).
In an exemplary embodiment of the present nail polish file the abrasive material has a grit size selected from 1- 80 um (P12.500-P180 ISO/FEPA Grit designation), such as 2 pm, 8.4 pm, 10.3 pm, 12.6 pm, 15.3 pm, 18.3 pm, 21.8 um,
25.8 Um, 30.2 um, 35.0 pm, 40.5 pm, 46.2 pm, 52.2 pum,
58.5 pm, and 68 um.
In an exemplary embodiment of the present nail polish file abrasive material is attached to the tooth file head by an adhesive.
In an exemplary embodiment of the present nail polish file the tooth file head is a refurbished tooth file head.
In an exemplary embodiment of the present method a nail is polished and/or sanded, such as 1-5 times, such as using different nail polish files.
The invention is further detailed by the accompanying figures and example, which are exemplary and explanatory of nature and are not limiting the scope of the invention.
SUMMARAY OF THE FIGURES Figure 1-10 show details of the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES Figure 1 shows four different polish heads 2, with abra- sive material 3, from coarse (left) to fine (right.
Figure 2 shows four full nail polish files 1.
Figure 3 shows side views of four full nail polish files
1.
Figure 4 shows a single nail polish file 1 with a tooth file head 2 and a holder with an (internal, partly visible) mechanism for translating linear motion, of a driver, typical- ly an electrical tooth brush, into rotational motion of the tooth file head 2 with abrasive material.
Figure 5 shows dimensions of the present nail polish file, an substantially circular abrasive material with head diameter D of about 14 mm and a total length 1 of about 71.5 mm. A low- er diameter of the tube is about 11.5 mm, and a width of the head is about 13 mm.
Figs. 6-8 show exemplary tooth brushes with the present refurbished nail polish file 1.
Figs. 9-10 show polishing of a nail and obtained gloss.
The figures are further detailed in the description and example below. The following section is aimed at supporting the search, of which the subsequent section is considered to be a transla- tion into Dutch.
