Title: DEVICE FOR THE RAPID ATTACHMENT OF SPACE HEATING AND DOMESTIC
HOT WATER HEATING EQUIPMENT TO A WALL
The object of the present invention is a device for attaching space heating and domestic hot water heating equipment to a wall.
By the term “equipment” mentioned above is meant a boiler intended to heat water through its own burner in order to feed it to the normal radiators located in a room, and to heat water for domestic use. This term however also refers to a known satellite plumbing unit for systems for the generation of hot water, for both space heating and for use as domestic hot water, in which the heated fluid is generated at a distance from the environment which has to be heated or where the hot water is to be used. These satellite units are in particular used in environments heated by means of “remote heating”, the latter being a system which provides that the fluid for space heating or for use for domestic purposes is generated remotely or at a distance from said environment using various techniques (such as, for example, heat recovery from plants for the disposal of wastes).
As is known, such equipment has to be attached to a wall in the aforesaid environment, a wall which may be that of a room (such as the kitchen) within the environment or a boiler space provided outside the normal inhabited zone of said environment (for example located on a balcony). In the position in which the equipment has to be located provision is usually already made for terminals or connections to water pipes connected to the central heating or radiators in the environment or taps present therein (for example in a kitchen) from which hot water for domestic purposes can flow out. These terminals may open towards a floor in the area where the space heating or water heating equipment is fitted (that is opening or facing “downwards”) or may open towards an upper wall (ceiling) in that area (or, opening and facing “upwards”). This may complicate the operation of attaching the aforesaid equipment to the wall.
In any event, because the heating equipment may also be of more than negligible weight if already at least partly preassembled, this attachment operation is never a simple matter.
The object of the present invention is to provide a device capable of aiding the operation of attaching heating equipment of the abovementioned type to a wall.
In particular the object of the invention is that of providing a device of the type mentioned which is very lightweight, can easily be attached to a wall and is already designed to support the heating equipment.
Another object is to provide a device of the type mentioned which is made ready for attachment to the terminals of the equipment for space heating or domestic hot water in the environment, whether these open upwards or downwards, that is allowing installation of the heating equipment to be reversible (upwards or downwards) above all in the case of a satellite unit of the type mentioned above.
Another object is to provide a device of the type mentioned which is designed to connect the terminals of the equipment for space or water heating to the heating equipment.
Another object is to provide a device of the type mentioned which can be adjusted to different sizes of heating equipment.
These and other objects which will be apparent to those skilled in the art are accomplished through a device according to appended claim 1.
For a better understanding of the invention a drawing in which the only Figure 1 shows an embodiment of the device according to the invention in a front perspective view purely by way of a non-limiting indication is attached.
With reference to the abovementioned figure, a device 1 according to the invention is illustrated therein. This allows heating equipment A (for example a satellite unit for distributing heated and heating water generated remotely into an apartment in order to heat it or provide domestic hot water) to be rapidly attached to a wall P of a room. This wall may be an inside wall of said room or an outside wall thereof: for example, in the first situation this means fitting (attaching) the equipment to an inside wall of a kitchen, while in the second situation it means fitting such equipment to a wall of a balcony to such a room (outside the inhabited portion of the latter) or in a space provided in such balcony.
Device (or “template”) 1 comprises a frame 1 A, a first portion 2 which is capable of being attached to the (inside or outside) wall P mentioned above and a second portion 3 intended to receive said equipment A.
More particularly, first portion 2 has a main part 5 which is substantially flat. This part 5 may be substantially solid or define a truly flat surface (as in the figure) or may be defined by substantially rectangular profile which is internally hollow.
At least one elongated bracket element 6 is located on main part 5, preferably in an adjustable position; two elongated elements or brackets 6 which can be attached to a rear portion 10 of equipment A are illustrated in the figure.
Each element or bracket 6 comprises a central part 6A positioned on part 5 and preferably slidable thereupon, and side arms 6B extending from such part 5 and having holes 7 capable of containing screws or bolts 8 for attaching device 1 to wall P. Screws 8 can be positioned in corresponding holes 7 in an adjustable way.
Each arm also comprises projecting tongues 10 capable of acting together with corresponding seats or holes present in equipment A in order to support it.
Second portion 3 of device 1 is located at right angles to the first and has a containment structure or space 11 defined by at least one flat wall 13 at right angles to part 5 of first portion 2 bounded by the free edges of vertical side walls 14 and back wall 15 (the latter being defined with reference to the fact that they are close to wall P and are therefore behind the equipment after the latter has been attached to device 1). Walls 15 provide holes 16 for devices (screws, hooks, bolts), which are not shown, for attaching frame 1 to inside or outside wall P.
Walls 13, 14 and 15 thus define space 11 capable of housing equipment A or better an extremity portion 18 thereof having terminals or connectors (not shown) to the normal internal piping in such equipment (also not shown).
Part 13 also comprises a plurality of pipes 20 provided with their own operable valve devices 21 (for example ball stop valves). These pipes 20 are preferably telescopic or of adjustable length and comprise a first extremity 23 which can be attached to the normal terminals of the water pipes (not shown) in the room where equipment A is to be installed, which have been provided for attachment to such equipment. Pipes 20 comprise a second extremity 24 which can be connected (in a manner which it in itself known, through the usual ring nut 30) to the connectors of the internal piping of equipment A.
In this way, after device 1 has been attached to walls P and pipes 20 have been attached to the room’s water pipes, equipment A is located on second portion 3 of the aforesaid device in space 11, preferably at a distance from wall 13 and supported by tongues 10. Pipes 20 are then connected to the connectors of the equipment or directly to the ends of the pipes of the latter using ring nuts 30. Depending upon the distance of equipment A (or better the extremity part 18 of the latter) from wall 13 the use of pipes 20 of a telescopic type makes it possible to span this distance and connect such equipment to the water pipes (either those of the heating system or those of the equipment or domestic hot water) in the room which has to be heated.
A preferred embodiment of the invention has been described. Yet others are however possible. For example arms 6 and wall 13 may be telescopic or may be axially extendable so 5 that tongues 10 can be located at different distances from part 5 and be able to attach equipment A of different sizes to device 1. Alternatively pipes 20 may be fixed and intended to be attached to the connectors or piping of equipment A (which may also be supported on wall 13 of second portion 3 of device 1 by means of its usual containment structure).
However, in all situations device 1 aids the fitting of equipment A to a wall. In addition 10 to this, it makes such attachment easier regardless of whether the pipes in the room open downwards or upwards. In other words device 1 makes it possible for the attachment of equipment A to be reversible, which is very important whenever this is a satellite unit of the type indicated above.
