Claims (15)
1. Een werkwijze voor het verminderen van de snelheid van depletie van basiciteit (als bepaald door ASTM D2896) van een smeeroliesamenstelling in gebruik in een motor, waarbij de smeeroliesamenstelling ten minste één olieoplosbaar overbaasd 5 alkali- of aardalkalimetaaldetergens omvat, welke werkwijze het toevoegen aan de smeeroliesamenstelling van één of meer verbindingen volgens Formule (I) omvat: CH2CH20]nH CH2CH20]nH O R1 O H L J x a) 10 waarbij: x is 1 tot en met 50, bij voorkeur 1 tot en met 40, bij grotere voorkeur 1 tot en met 30; R1 en R2 zijn H, hydrocarbylgroepen met 1 tot en met 12 koolstofatomen, of hydrocarbylgroepen met 1 tot en met 12 15 koolstofatomen en ten minste één heteroatoom; R is een hydrocarbylgroep met 9 tot en met 100, bij voorkeur 9 tot en met 70, bij grootste voorkeur 9 tot en met 50 koolstofatomen; en n is 0 tot en met 10, of aardalkalimetaalzouten daarvan. 20
2. De werkwijze volgens conclusie 1, waarbij n in Formule (I) 0 is.

9. De werkwijze volgens één van de voorgaande conclusies, waarbij de aardalkalimetaalzouten van de verbindingen volgens Formule (1) calcium of magnesium zijn.
10. De werkwijze volgens één van de voorgaande conclusies, waarbij n >2, 25 zoals ge-di-oxyalkyleerd, ge-tri-oxyalkyleerd en ge-tetra-oxyalkyleerd, voor minder dan 5 mol% van de verbindingen volgens Formule (I).

12. De werkwijze volgens één van de voorgaande conclusies, waarbij de smeeroliesamenstelling een TBN van 4 tot en met 100 heeft als gemeten door ASTM D2896, bij voorkeur een TBN van 5 tot en met 75, bij grotere voorkeur 6 tot en met 70.
13. De werkwijze volgens één van de voorgaande conclusies, waarbij de smeeroliesamenstelling een marinecylindersmeermiddel-, een trunkzuigermotorolie-, een gasmotorolie- of een krukkastsmeer-oliesamenstelling (inclusief een passagiersautomotorolie en een zwaar-werk-dieselmotorolie) is.
14. Gebruik van één of meer verbindingen volgens Formule (I): CH2CH20]nH CH2CH20]nH O R1 O H L J x © waarbij: x is 1 tot en met 50, bij voorkeur 1 tot en met 40, bij grotere voorkeur 1 tot en met 30;
15 R1 en R2 zijn H, hydrocarbylgroepen met 1 tot en met 12 koolstofatomen, of hydrocarbylgroepen met 1 tot en met 12 koolstofatomen en ten minste één heteroatoom; R is een hydrocarbylgroep met 9 tot en met 100, bij voorkeur 9 tot en met 70, bij grootste voorkeur 9 tot en met 50 koolstofatomen; en 20. is 0 tot en met 10, of aardalkalimetaalzouten daarvan, voor het verminderen van de snelheid van depletie van basiciteit (als bepaald door ASTM D2896) van een smeeroliesamenstelling in gebruik in een motor, waarbij de smeeroliesamenstelling ten minste één olieoplosbaar overbaasd alkali- of aardalkalimetaaldetergens omvat.
