Description

Robot for cleaning of the teats of a cow
The invention relates to a robot for cleaning of the teats of a cow.
In the current practice cleaning of the teats of a cow is done by hand by spraying the cows teats from behind. This is 5 a tedious job, which is also very laborious.
It is an object of the invention to reduce the amount of labor that is involved with cleaning of the cows teats, and to execute this cleaning without hindering the cow in its natural posture, while it is standing.
10 According to the invention a robot is therefore pro posed having the features of one or more of the appended claims.
In a first aspect of the invention the robot is movable to and from the cow and comprises a sensor for detecting the hind of the cow, as well as a tool holder which is arranged to 15 fit between the cows hind legs and below the cows udder, wherein the tool holder supports a tool for cleaning of the cows teats. These are essential requirements that the robot must meet in order to be able to automate completely the cleaning of the cows teats, and avoid the use of any manual labor.
20 Preferably the sensor is arranged to scan a space be tween the cows hind legs so as to detect the cows udder and the hind teats thereon.
Preferably also the robot is arranged such that it's movability depends on signals from the sensor detecting the cows 25 udder and the hind teats thereon.
Desirably the tool is rotatably supported by the tool holder so as to arrange that the tool is able to occupy a first position with respect to the tool holder, in which the tool has dimensions less or equal than the dimensions of the tool holder. 30 This has the advantage that with a proper dimensioning of the tool holder it is possible to move the tool for cleaning the cows teats between the cows legs and without hindering the cow. The cow than does not have to reposition its legs while cleaning of the cows teats proceeds.
35 Beneficiary the tool is arranged to be able to occupy a second position with respect to the tool holder, in which the tool has dimensions that are suited to enable the tool to clean the cows teats. In practice this means that in the second posi- 2 tion the tool can expand beyond the limits of the tool holder so that it can reach up to where the teats of the cow are located.
The tool that is supported by the tool holder preferably comprise spray means, although a brush would also be feasi-5 ble.
The invention will hereinafter be further elucidated with reference to the drawing of a single figure showing an example of the robot of the invention in an isometric view.
In the figure the robot for cleaning of the teats of a 10 cow is indicated with reference 1. This robot 1 is movable to and from a cow (not shown) of which the teats must be cleaned and comprises for this purpose a sensor 2 for detecting the hind of the cow, and a tool holder 3 which is arranged to fit between the cows hind legs and below the cows udder. The tool holder 3 15 supports a tool 4 for cleaning of the cows teats.
The sensor 2 is arranged to scan a space between the cows hind legs so as to detect the cows udder and the hind teats thereon. In connection therewith the robot 1 is arranged such that it's movability depends on signals from the sensor 2 de-20 tecting the cows udder and the hind teats thereon. In this manner the robot 1 can with any cow be reliably maneuvered into the correct position.
The tool 4 is rotatably supported by the tool holder 3 so as to arrange that the tool 4 is able to occupy a first posi-25 tion with respect to the tool holder 3, in which the tool 4 has dimensions less or equal than the dimensions of the tool holder 3. This is what the figures shows.
The tool 4 is further arranged to occupy a second position with respect to the tool holder 3, in which the tool has 30 dimensions that are suited to enable the tool 4 to clean the cows teats. For this purpose the tool 4 can rotate according to the arrows 5. For executing the cleaning operation on the cows teats, the tool 4 is further provided with spray means 6 with which the teats of the cow can be appropriately cleaned.
