Description
Current intensity regulating device applicable to push-buttons
The object of the present invention is a current intensity regulating device, which is applicable to push-button mechanisms used 5 in low-voltage installations for household uses and suchlike, the essential characteristics of which are disclosed below.
In installations of lighting points, such as lamps, bulbs, etc. where it is necessary to regulate the intensity of the current in order to consequently regulate the brightness of the lighting point, 10 suitable regulators are installed, generally close to the lighting point, said installations requiring the use of three wires, which complicates the aforementioned installation.
The device that is the object of the present invention offers a practical solution to the above-described drawbacks, as it can be in-15 stalled as a fully integrated unit together with the push-button itself, previously situated in a suitable base piece, this unit generally being installed far away from the lighting point. As a result of all this it is also possible to use a normal push-button mechanism, which is situated in said base piece, being fully adapted to the 20 spaces situated on the upper face of said base piece, whilst the regulating device will be situated and installed in the spaces provided for this purpose inside the base piece.
The current intensity regulating device that is the object of the present invention is essentially characterised, as will be de-25 tailed in the rest of the description, in that it consists of a compact assembly formed by a circuit board, a coil, two cylindrical vertical pins for connection with the push-button mechanism and a terminal block for input and output connections.
The special design of the base piece also means that it can be 30 situated in the flush-mounted unit of the push-button mechanism, which is formed by a flush-mounted box, a metal frame for securing the push-button mechanism, said mechanism have an actuator and an outer frame, all arranged in such a way that the base piece together with the regulating device are situated inside the flush-mounted box. 35 The situation of the regulating device together with the push button mechanism means that it is only necessary to install two wires to the lighting point.
1035740 2
The device disclosed herein may also be wall-mounted, having the appropriate complements for this.
The present invention relates to a current intensity regulating device applicable to push-buttons, which is installed together with 5 the push-button mechanism, simplifying the installation to the lighting point that is to be regulated, characterised in that it is formed by a base piece, inside which, and underneath its intermediate face, the regulating device itself is situated, the top of said base piece having two lateral prismatic projections between which to position 10 and fit the entire electrical push-button mechanism, which has normal characteristics and operation and which is actuated by the pivoted actuator.
A specific embodiment concerns a current intensity regulating device applicable to push-buttons, according to the invention, char-15 acterised in that it consists of a back plate that carries the unit's electronic circuits, upon which the coil is situated and the two cylindrical vertical pins that constitute the connections between the device and the push-button mechanism, there being a terminal block on one side of the back plate for connecting the input and output wires 20 to the lighting point, the block being positioned underneath the lateral projection of the base piece, so that the openings of said block will be accessible from outside as they coincide with the openings of the lateral projection, all these components being placed inside the base piece, only the two pins emerging through the holes in the in-25 termediate face, the unit being closed by the back cove, which fits onto the bottom edges of the base piece by means of lateral tab.
A preferred embodiment concerns a current intensity regulating device applicable to push-buttons, according to the invention, the installation of which, together with the push-button mechanism, will 30 generally permit the flush-mounted installation of the unit, with appropriate complementary elements, such as an outer frame around the pivoted actuator, metal frame and flush-mounted box, characterised in that it presents a variant installation without the push-button mechanism situated in the upper space of the base piece, which is 35 covered and protected, in this embodiment, by the cover, which is situated therein and secured by teeth that fit into the lateral openings in the inner faces of the vertical prismatic projections.
3
In order to describe the essential characteristics of the invention in detail, a set of drawings is attached, in which a device applied to a push-button for flush-mounted installation is shown by way of a non-limiting example.
5 In said drawings:
Fig. 1 is an exploded perspective view of the push-button unit in the flush-mounted embodiment, fitted with the regulating device; Fig. 2 is also an exploded perspective view of the regulating device, showing the arrangement of its different components, to-10 gether with the push-button mechanism and the actuator;
Fig. 3 is a cross-section taken through AA of the device and push-button mechanism unit, fully assembled and showing the situation of the different components;
Fig. 4 is a plan view of the base piece of the device; 15 Fig. 5 is an exploded perspective view showing the arrangement of the regulating device in a variant embodiment in which it is installed separately from the push-button, with a protective cover thereon;
Fig. 6 is a smaller-scale perspective view of the base piece, 20 with the protective cover in place and cross-sectioned through BB
to show how the cover is secured;
Fig. 6 bis is a larger-scale partial detail of the previous figure, showing the elements that secure the cover to the base piece.
25 According to the drawings, the current intensity regulating de vice applicable to push-buttons that is the object of the present invention is formed by a base piece (1) , inside and underneath which the regulating device (2) itself is situated.
Fitted between the two lateral prismatic projections (3a) and 30 (3b) in the top of the base piece (1) is the electrical mechanism with the push-button configuration (4), with all its components and with normal characteristics and operation, upon which the pivoted-type actuator (5) is situated.
The unit also has an outer frame (6), which covers the metal 35 frame (7) that secures said unit to the flush-mounted box (8) by screws (9) in the embodiment of a flush-mounted push-button shown in the drawings .
4
The regulating device (2) is formed by a back plate (10) that carries the unit's electronic circuits, upon which the coil (11) is situated together with the two cylindrical vertical pins (12) that constitute the contacts for connection between the device (2) and the 5 push-button mechanism (4).
The bottom of the device is closed by the back cover (13) , which has lateral tabs (13a) and (13b) that are suitable for fitting and being secured to the underside of the base piece (1).
Also situated on one side of the back plate (10) is the termi-10 nal block (14) to which the input and output wires are connected, which are necessary to complete the installation to the lighting point. When the regulating device (2) is placed inside the base piece (1), the terminal block (14) is positioned in such a way that the different lateral (15a) and top (15b) openings for access to the ter-15 minals are fully accessible from outside, as they coincide with the windows (16a) and (16b) on the lateral projection (3c) of said base piece (1) .
The cylindrical vertical pins (12) emerge through the corresponding holes (17) in the intermediate face (la) of the base piece 20 (1), being inserted into the push-button mechanism (4) to coincide with the contacts (18) inside said mechanism.
This mechanism, which is a normal, known type, has lateral fast connection keys (19) , together with the appropriate contacts for the push-button configuration, the rocker (20) and its return spring 25 (21), all of which are situated underneath the pivoted actuator (5), the area around this actuator being covered by the outer frame (6) that is secured to the metal frame (7) , which is in turn secured to the flush-mounted box (8), all as shown in fig. 3.
In a variant of the embodiment it will be necessary to situate 30 the regulating device (2) separately from the push-button mechanism (4), so that a cover (22) is placed over the base piece (1), occupying the entire space that the push-button mechanism (4) would occupy, fitting between the projections (3a) and (3b) and being secured by its lateral teeth (23) that fit into the openings (24) on the inner 35 faces of the projections (3a) and (3b).
The installation of this cover (22) will protect that upper area of the regulating device, particularly the projecting ends of the cylindrical vertical pins (12) .
5
Having sufficiently described the particularities of the regulating device that is the object of the present invention, it must be stated that any variation in dimensions, shapes and outer appearance, as well as types of materials used in the practical embodiment of the 5 device, will not in any way alter the essence thereof, which is summarised in the following claims.
