Background of the invention
The invention relates to a holder for contact lenses. In particular, it concerns a contact lens holder that is suitable for sending and storing customized soft or dimensionally stable contact lenses, wherein the closable container is provided with a quantity of storage liquid.
Bijvoorbeeld zoals bekend uit EP0598939 of US2007261970, hierbij als referentie opgenomenIn practice, a small piece package provided with a foil attached thereto is also referred to as a blister. Various blister packages are known e.g. EP0223581, EP1284110, U.S. Pat. Pat. Nos, 5,054,610; 5,337,888; 5,375,698; 5,409,104; 5,467,868; 5,515,964; 5,609,246; 5,620,088; 15 5,695,049; 5,697,495; 5,704,468; 5,711,416; 5,722,536; 5,573,108; 5,823,327; 5,704,468; 5,983,608; 6,029,808; 6,044,966, hereby referred to as a reference. These blister packs can only be used once. For use with disposable soft lenses, this is a good solution because if the lenses are defective or otherwise cause problems, they are generally discarded and not returned to the supplier. The form-stable lens is generally sent dry to the optician or eye doctor and transferred for use by the optometrist in a consumer contact lens case. For example as known from EP0598939 or US2007261970, hereby incorporated by reference
The new generation of form-stable contact lenses are increasingly being treated with a plasma oxidation or polymerization process to improve the wetting properties of the lens surface. After this treatment, it is necessary for the lens to be stored in a suitable storage fluid to maintain the improved wetting property. Moreover, it may be necessary to return the lens to the manufacturer at a certain time, for example for post-processing or credit.
Een dergelijke verpakking is over het algemeen relatief dik, waardoor bijvoorbeeld verzending per post problemen kan geven.WO2004 / 024573 describes and shows various divergent embodiments of contact lens packages that are reusable to store a contact lens in use. To this end, a holder of a per se known type is provided with a sealing film. Such a package is generally relatively thick, so that, for example, shipping by mail can cause problems.
There is therefore room for improvement in these contact lens packages, which have long been known per se.

The invention has for its object to provide an improved packaging for contact lenses.
The invention further or additionally has the object of providing a holder for contact lenses which has several uses.
To this end, the invention provides a holder for contact lenses, comprising a plastic holder part provided with a receiving space for a contact lens. According to an aspect of the invention, this is surrounded by a flat edge on which a foil is provided for the liquid-tight sealing of the receiving space. Furthermore, in one embodiment the plastic holder part further comprises a molded lid which is connected to the holder part by means of a film hinge, and wherein the cover extends over the receiving space in closed condition to protect the film and to remove the receiving space after removal of the film Close.
Because the holder, in addition to a foil, also has a lid, the lens can, if, for example, be sent back to the producer, be put back in the original packaging and closed by means of the lid for return. Moreover, such a co-molded lid offers good protection of the foil, which in itself is vulnerable to damage.
25 Overigens wordt hier met het afsluiten van de opneemruimte bedoeld het in ieder geval dusdanig afsluiten dat een contactlens in de opneemruimte blijft wanneer het deksel in de gesloten toestand is.Incidentally, here the closing of the receiving space is understood to mean that in any case closing such that a contact lens remains in the receiving space when the cover is in the closed state.
In one embodiment, the holder part has a bottom and a wall that extends substantially from the bottom. This can connect to the lid.
In one embodiment, it connects to the circumferential wall of the holder part when it is also provided with a circumferential
JJ
•a 3 wand, wanneer het deksel in gesloten toestand is. Anders sluit de wand aan op het houderdeel.• a 3 wall when the lid is closed. Otherwise the wall connects to the holder part.
Due to the connecting walls, the holder part and lid together form a box with the receiving space therein. The receiving space can be defined by a circumferential wall that extends from the bottom of the holder part.
In one embodiment, the receiving space and the flat edge are formed from the bottom of the holder part.
In one embodiment an elevation extends for at least a part of the flat edge for the positioning of the foil, which elevation extends up to the cover in its closed state.
In one embodiment, the holder further comprises positioning cams in the holder part, for positioning the film, especially during application.
In one embodiment the foil is connected on the flat edge by means of a melt connection or heat sealing.
In one embodiment, the lid comprises a first closing part and the holder part a second closing part for locking the cover in cooperation with the first closing part.
In one embodiment, the holder, with the exception of the closing foil, is formed by injection molding. In an embodiment the injection-molded part is made of polypropylene, but another suitable plastic can also be used.
The invention further relates to a flat plastic blister package with a resealable lid, wherein the lid is furthermore suitable for sending and storing soft or form-stable contact lenses by means of a clip closure, wherein the closable container is provided with a quantity of storage liquid.
The space in which the contact lens is received can be hermetically and liquid-tight by means of a preferably aluminum barrier foil closed by heat-sealing technology. The foil can consist of a polypropylene cached aluminum or a transparent plastic foil such as polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP). The blister and the cover are preferably made in one piece by injection molding, the cover being attached to the other part by means of a film hinge. The lid has a clip closure that is also attached to the other part with a film hinge. The cover protects the foil against damage during transport, among other things. The aluminum foil is relatively strong, but a transparent PE foil is not, as a result of which the η 4 integrity of the package can be affected. The lid or the underside of the blister, the holder part, can be used as a carrier of the lens parameters or to attach other lens characteristics. The lid can be provided with a foil that has already been applied during injection molding by means of a mold label technique, so that no separate label has to be applied afterwards. When returning a lens, the lid fixed with the clip closes the lens compartment so that the lens can be returned to the manufacturer without damage or chance.
It will be clear that the various aspects mentioned in this patent application can be combined and can each qualify separately for a split-off patent application.

Description of embodiments. Figure 1 shows a bottom and top view of a holder 1, in practice also referred to as a blister, with a lid 2 and a holder part 5 of one piece.
Verder heeft het deksel 2 een omlopende wand 4.The lid 2 here has a flat closing part 3 on which, if desired, a label or data can be applied. Furthermore, the lid 2 has a circumferential wall 4.
The holder part 5 here also has a revolving wall 6 which, in the closed condition of the lid 2, connects to the revolving wall 4 thereof. A receiving space 8 is formed from the bottom of the holder part 5. This receiving space 8 is here a concave, partly spherical, space in which a contact lens can be placed and which can be filled with a storage liquid. A flat edge 7 is arranged around the receiving space.
Figure 2 shows a longitudinal section through the holder 1 of figure 1. Here you can see the receiving space 8 which is provided on the inside with raised parts 9. By means of said raised parts a contact lens can be taken well from the receiving space, and it is prevented that a contact lens sticks to the wall.
The flat edge 7 is in practice usually about 1.5 mm wide, so that a sufficiently large surface area is present for a good connection with a foil, not shown here.
The lid 2 and holder part 5 are interconnected by means of a film hinge 10.
To lock the lid 2 with holder part 5, a first closing part 11 is provided on the lid 2 and a second closing part 12 on holder part 5.
Furthermore, the flat edge 7 is partly surrounded by an elevation 13 which has 15 different positions. Firstly, the elevation 13 serves to position a film to be applied which serves to close off the receiving space 8. Furthermore, the elevation 13 serves to keep the lid at a distance from the foil.
Figure 3 shows the holder 1 in the open state. In addition, positioning cams 14 can be seen which are intended to support the lid.
A more important purpose is to form a positioning means for the aforementioned foil for closing the receiving space. The positioning cams have an extended part for this purpose.
The second closing part 12 is, as can be clearly seen here, a part connected to the holder part 5 by means of a film hinge, provided with an opening. The first closing part 11 is a hook part 11 connected to the lid 2. If desired, the first and second closing part can be exchanged. The edge of the opening of closing part 12 perpendicular behind the groove in hook part 11 in a locking state (FIG.
2).2).
The thickness of the flat edge 7, when a film is applied by means of "heat sealing" or fusing, will be approximately 0.5 mm. For an optimum connection of the film to the rest of the container, it is preferable if the thickness variation is less than 0.01 mm.
66
Figure 4 also shows how here that wall 6 of the holder part has an inclined rejuvenation and wall 4 of the lid 2 a corresponding rejuvenation. A good closure will therefore be obtained in the closed state.
Cover 2 and holder part 5 are formed in one piece and connected by means of film hinges with which these parts are connected to each other and which also ensure a flexible hinging action. The faces thereof can be used for applying lens characteristics such as the parameters or the name of the patient for whom the lens is intended. The lens can be placed in the concave and partly spherical receiving space 8 and filled with storage liquid. To prevent the lens from sticking to the concave surface and to simplify the removal of the lens, space 8 is provided with small elevations 9. The concave space 8 can be hermetically sealed in a vapor-tight manner with a seal foil 15 which is applied to the seal edge 7. This seal edge 7 has a width of at least 1.5 mm. The thickness is preferably at least 0.5 mm. The thickness variation over the sealing surface 7 is preferably less than 0.01 mm. This ensures optimum and even adhesion. Positioning cam 14 serves to support and position the sealing foil. The annular elevation 13 also serves for the correct positioning of the film during the heat sealing process. The wall of cover 2 has a sloping, rejuvenated edge. During the closing of the lid, it is positioned over the rejuvenated upright wall of holder part 5, whereafter the lid comes into position aligned. The space between the flat part 3 of cover 2 and elevation 13 is so small that a contact lens when the cover is closed cannot slide out of the receiving space 8 if no foil 15 is provided. However, the space is preferably so large that the heat seal film applied is free.
Incidentally, a foil could also be glued, but connection by means of a heat seal is preferred.
Uitgaande van de bovenstaande uiteenzetting 30 zullen voor een vakman vele variaties evident zijn die vallen onder de geest en de reikwijdte van de onderhavige uitvinding 1 03 5 1 88It is to be understood that the above description is included to illustrate the operation of preferred embodiments of the invention, and not to limit the scope of the invention. Starting from the above explanation, many variations will be evident to those skilled in the art that fall within the spirit and scope of the present invention.
