Abstract

The apparatus has a threshold calculator (300) calculating a threshold based on a maximum and minimum variance which are pre-set based on class regions, and a calculated variance. A motion calculator (400) calculates a motion change of an image using the previous and next field of a current field in the input fields. A weight calculator calculates a weight based on the calculated threshold and motion change of the image. An independent claim is also included for a method of selectively applying a motion adaptive image processing procedure to a sequence of images.
