Platenpakket voor warmtereaenerator.Plate package for heat generator.
The invention relates to a plate package for a heat regenerator which serves to store heat from a stream of hot gases. The stored heat is later used again to heat cold gases.
Heat regenerators are known from air conditioning systems for buildings in which two regenerators are used alternately as a heat sink and heat emitter. With these 10 systems, very high returns can be achieved.
A problem with these devices is the amount of material required to store a reasonable amount of heat. Metal plates are known which are slightly corrugated and placed in a cabinet 15 with a small gap. It is a practical problem to keep the plates straight and at an equal distance.
The invention now overcomes this drawback by providing the plates with stud patterns. The plates are provided with an asymmetrical pattern, the mutual distance being determined by the thickness of the plate. It has been found that the stud pattern has a favorable effect on the heat transfer from gas to plate and vice versa. By slightly compressing the plate package, a waveform is created in the plate, which also contributes to the proper functioning of the plate package.
It has been found that with thinner plates a weight saving of approximately 20 percent can be achieved with the same capacity.

In FIG. 1 the plate is indicated by (1). Studs (2) are pressed into plate (1) at regular intervals in a pattern. By placing the pattern asymmetrically with respect to the length of the plate, the end distances (3) 05 and (4) are different. In practice, the difference between (3) and (4) is slightly more than half the diameter of the studs (2). By stacking the plates alternately, the studs (2) are staggered and the plates are kept at the desired distance. In FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of part of the package. The rear plate is indicated with (la). The thickness of the package is determined by the number of plates that are stacked on top of each other. An example is a package of 88 studded plates and a flat strike plate with a size of 360 x 360 x 940 millimeters and a weight of 48 kilograms. The plates (1) are made of aluminum and 0.6 millimeters thick. Plates (1) are anodised to prevent corrosion.
In FIG. 3, (3) denotes a shape of stud (2). Stud (3) is here designed as a hollow-point cone.
In FIG. 4 is a variant of stud (3) in the form of a spherical stud (4).
In FIG. 5 is indicated by (5) a variant on stud (2), here is an elongated, obliquely positioned stud, which causes a winding flow pattern of the gases.
In FIG. 6, studs (6) are shown which have a blade shape in order to direct the gas flow in varied paths.
It has been found that the studs cause a favorable disturbance in the mainly laminar gas flow whereby the heat transfer improves.
Compression of the stacked plate package results in an undulation of plates (1) due to the asymmetrical arrangement of studs (2), which also improves the operation.
