The invention relates to an assembly comprising a chair (1) and a shampoo basin (2) for washing hair, the shampoo basin (2) having a neck recess (3) and being adjustably mounted on a pillar (5), wherein the shampoo basin (2) is mounted on the pillar (5) in a substantially stationary position and the pillar (5) consists of at least two parts (6,7) which are movable relative to each other, the arrangement being such that the shampoo basin (2) is adjustable in height relative to the chair (1). <IMAGE>
