A wire rod (1) according to an aspect of the present invention includes a predetermined range as a chemical composition, in which in both a surface layer portion (11) and a center portion (12), a major structure is a pearlite structure, an area ratio of a ferrite structure is 45% or less, an area ratio of a non-pearlite and a non-ferrite structure is 5% or less, a density ?1 of a subgrain boundary (23), in which an angular difference between crystal orientations of lamellar ferrites (32) in the pearlite structure reaches 2? or more and less than 15?, is 70 /mm ? ?1 ? 600 /mm, and a density ?2 of a high-angle grain boundary, in which an angular difference between crystal orientations of ferrites in all structures reaches 15? or more, is 200 /mm or more.
