Abstract

An intake manifold for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine includes a surge tank (3) and a plurality of intake outlet passages (4, 5, 6). Each of the intake outlet passages is oriented in a direction crossing a line connecting one end and the other end of the surge tank. The one end portion (7) of the surge tank protrudes forward of a group of the intake outlet passages. The one end portion of the surge tank is provided with an auxiliary passage (15) for introducing fuel purge gas or another auxiliary gas into the surge tank. The auxiliary passage has a groove-shaped discharge port (17). The discharge port has a tip end opening toward a straight advancing direction of the auxiliary gas so that the auxiliary gas flowing straight through the discharge port is discharged toward the other end of the surge tank.
