Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for the large scale production of Oil Palm Phenolics (OPP) or vegetation liquor as a dry powder using a spray dryer, having a single fluid nozzle atomizer and a cyclone. The inlet of the atomizer is maintained between 100?C and 250?C, preferably at a temperature of 160?C while the outlet of the atomizer is maintained between 50?C and 100?C. The vegetation liquor or Oil Palm Phenolics (OPP) is passed through the atomizer first and then through the cyclone. The liquid gets converted into droplets in the atomizer while a powder gets collected in the cyclone. The powder is dried vegetation liquor or Oil Palm Phenolics (OPP) which has many health benefits. The process of the present invention produces the vegetation liquor or OPP powder without use of any carrier agent. The yield of the dried vegetation liquor or Oil palm Phenolics (OPP) is more than 70% and a moisture content of less than 6%.
