Abstract

The object is to provide a rubber composition including cellulose nanofibers and being superior in strength such as breaking strength, and the present invention is a method for producing the masterbatch, the method including: a step (1) of preparing pulp B using a wood material as a raw material, wherein the wood material can obtain pulp A having a fiber length distribution where a ratio of a component having a fiber length of 1.00 mm or longer measured in accordance with ISO 16065-2 is 20% or less at the time of pulping the wood material under kraft pulp manufacturing conditions of an addition amount of active alkali of 15%, a sulfidity of 25%, a liquor to the wood material ratio of 2.5 L/kg, and an H-factor of 830; a step (2) of obtaining a cellulose nanofiber having a average fiber length of 500 nm or shorter and a average fiber diameter of 100 nm or smaller by defibrating the pulp B; and a step (3) of mixing the cellulose nanofiber and a rubber component.
