Abstract

The present invention provides a safe and effective preventive or treatment of antiviral disease, in particular for the prevention or treatment of dengue fever. Simultaneously, the present invention provides a new kind of medicinal value or health care function Eurycoma longifolia or traditionally known as Tongkat Ali. Accordingly, the present invention provides surprising effects of Eurycoma longifolia extract as an antiviral against dengue, in particular reducing the count of dengue virus replication, thereby effective in the treatment, amelioration, management or prevention of dengue disease caused by dengue virus. Also provided are surprising effects of Eurycoma longifolia extract in increasing platelet count, thereby effective in the treatment, amelioration, management or prevention of dengue disease caused by dengue virus. Further, the present invention provides an antiviral drug or pharmaceutical composition comprising Eurycoma longifolia extract as an alternative product to fight dengue disease. Figure 1
