Abstract
The present invention discloses an apparatus for retrofitting a column (100) of building structures subjected to seismic loads, which comprises an elongated member (102) distanced in a parallel manner relative to the column (100) so as to form a space therebetween and a link element that snugly fits in the space between the elongated member (102) and column (100). The link element includes a flexible member (101) with a first end and a second end, and a connecting means (104) extending from the first end and the second end of the flexible member (101), which provides a linkage to the elongated member (102) and column (100), which is configured for absorbing and dissipating impact load imposed on the columns during a seismic activity.
