Abstract

A water treatment apparatus comprising: an upflow anaerobic reaction tank (1) having an inlet part (2) of water to be treated and an outlet part (3) of treated water (22) located at a higher position of the inlet part, and holding water to be treated containing anaerobic sludge up to height of the outlet part; and a supply pipe (4) for a liquid (23) provided in the anaerobic reaction tank; wherein the supply pipe has an opening (5) located in an upper one-third region of the water to be treated in the anaerobic reaction tank or above the water surface and oriented in a substantially horizontal direction.
