Abstract

An object of the invention is to provide a device and a method for biological desulfurization from a biogas wherein hydrogen sulfide can be efficiently processed with a high load and hydrogen sulfide can be converted into sulfuric acid through the process so that the device can be prevented from being clogged, which makes a cleaning process unnecessary, and thus the process can be achieved at a low cost. The biological desulfurization device is provided with: a biogas inflow line 5 for allowing a biogas to flow into a biological desulfurization tower 1 through an end portion; a process gas outflow line 7 for discharging a process gas located at the latter stage of the filler layer 1a for carrying bacteria in another end portion of the biological desulfurization tower; and a circulation gas line 8 for circulating a part of the process gas through the end portion of the biological desulfurization tower into which a biogas flows, and is characterized by allowing an operational unit 11 to calculate the hydrogen sulfide load amount from the measurement values of the hydrogen sulfide concentration gauge 3 and the gas flow meter 4 provided along the biogas inflow line 2, and allowing the circulation gas amount adjusting mechanism 9 to operate in accordance with the results of the calculation so as to adjust the circulation gas amount that passes through the circulation gas line 8.
