Abstract
Considering that the battery separator (1) of the present invention will require thinner materials and lower costs in the future, provided are a polyolefin porous membrane (2) with exceptionally high peel strength between the polyolefin porous membrane (2) and a modified porous layer (3), suitable for high-speed processing during slit processing and the battery assembly process, and suitable for laminating on a modified porous layer (3), and a battery separator (1) obtained by laminating a modified porous layer (3) on the polyolefin porous membrane (2). A polyolefin porous membrane (2) comprising protrusions of polyolefin having a size (W) within a range of 5 ?m ? W ? 50 ?m and a height (H) within a range of 0.5 ?m ? H and irregularly disposed on both sides of the polyolefin porous membrane (2) in a density not less than 3/cm2 and not more than 200/cm2 per side, and the polyolefin porous membrane having a thickness of not more than 25 ?m.
