Abstract

A washing machine includes an inner tub, opened upward, for accommodating laundry and washing water, and agitator (7), disposed on an inner bottom portion of the inner tub, for being rotated by a rotation driving unit. Furthermore, agitator (7) includes center vanes (27) extending from rotation center (7a) of agitator (7) toward outer periphery (7b) of agitator (7), center vanes (27) being raised upward from base (26) of agitator (7), and peripheral vanes (28) extending from outer periphery (7b) toward rotation center (7a), peripheral vanes (28) being raised upward from base (26) of agitator (7). Moreover, center vanes (27) and peripheral vanes (28) are disposed at different positions in a circumferential direction of agitator (7). A washing machine may thereby be realized, according to which unevenness in washing laundry is unlikely even in a case where the amount of washing water used is small relative to the volume of laundry.
