Abstract

The present invention relates to a bus duct system for high ampere power transmission, each phase comprising one multi-run conductor, said multi-run conductor comprising a plurality of elongated bars running parallel to each other, characterised in that each elongated bar has a surface-to-volume ratio in the range of 0.45 mm2/mm3. to 1.15. The increased surface area reduces the skin effect ratio, which is dependent on the ratio of the width to the thickness of the bar, and as the thickness of the bar increases, the skin effect increases. Therefore, a multiple of thin copper strips are more efficient than a single thick one a conductor for alternating current.
