Abstract

The invention relates to a drying screen for paper machines having a fabric composed of fabric threads (2 to 5; 7 to 10; 12 to 15; 22 to 25; 27 to 30; 32 to 39), that has a paper side and a machine side that each have contact points and contact surfaces (16, 17; 40, 41) formed by the fabric threads (2 to 5; 7 to 10; 12 to 15; 22 to 25; 27 to 30; 32 to 39) that respectively add up to form an overall contact surface on the paper side and on the machine side with a contact surface portion on the overall surface, a Fabric Fineness Index for the machine side (FFl-MS) and a Fabric Fineness Index for the paper side (FFl-PS) being able to calculated from the contact surface portion, the number of contact points and the fabric thickness of the drying fabric according to the following formula : contact surface portion (%) x number of contact points per cm2 FFI= fabric thickness (mm), and the ratio of the FFl-MS to the FFl-PS being at least 1.25: 1, preferably at least 1.5: 1.
