Abstract

The present invention provides a water-absorbent material composed mainly of a fine particulate material called parenchyma in a trunk, the particulate material being obtained from an oil palm trunk. The parenchyma has porous structure characteristics and has the excellent property of water absorbability that is hardly reduced even for solutions with high salt concentration, such as seawater, or solutions containing an organic solvent.
