The present invention relates to a method for producing a corrosion inhibitor, characterised by the steps of mixing ground paddy waste with a solution comprising 60% ethanol and 0.01M sulphuric acid to form a mixture; stirring and heating the mixture at a temperature below 60?C for 3 - 6 hours; evaporating the ethanol from the mixture to isolate a lignocellulosic extract; and dissolving the lignocellulosic extract in 1 M hydrochloric acid to form the corrosion inhibitor.
