Abstract

A BATTERY STATE ESTIMATING APPARATUS, WHICH IS AN EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION, DETECTS THE CURRENT AND TERMINAL VOLTAGE OF A SECONDARY BATTERY (10); USES THE MEASUREMENT VALUES (I(k), V(k)) OF THE DETECTED CURRENT AND TERMINAL VOLTAGE TO ESTIMATE A TERMINAL VALUE OF THE SECONDARY BATTERY BASED ON A PREDETERMINED BATTERY MODEL; AND SUCCESSIVELY IDENTIFIES A PARAMETER φ^(k)) OF THE BATTERY MODEL SUCH THAT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE VALUE BASED ON THE MEASUREMENT VALUE OF THE TERMINAL VOLTAGE AND THE ESTIMATED VALUE OF THE TERMINAL VOLTAGE CONVERGES TO ZERO. WHEN A PARTICULAR ONE (φn) OF THE IDENTIFIED PARAMETERS IS EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN A PREDETERMINED FIRST THRESHOLD VALUE (δ1), THEN AN UPPER LIMITATION IS PERFORMED SUCH THAT THE VALUE OF THE PARTICULAR PARAMETER (φn) IS SET TO THE FIRST THRESHOLD VALUE (δ1).
