A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING A POWDER CONTAINING AN α-SULFOFATTY ACID ALKYL ESTER SALT INCLUDES A CONCENTRATION STEP OF HEATING AN AQUEOUS PASTE CONTAINING ALL α-SULFOFATTY ACID ALKYL ESTER SALT IN A CONCENTRATION DRYING APPARATUS TO PREPARE A CONCENTRATE HAVING A WATER CONTENT OF NOT MORE THAN 4% BY MASS AT THE OUTLET OF THE CONCENTRATION DRYING APPARATUS, A COOLING AND SOLIDIFICATION STEP OF COOLING AND SOLIDIFYING THE CONCENTRATE USING A COOLING SOLIDIFICATION APPARATUS, THEREBY PREPARING A SOLID MATERIAL, AND A GRANULATION STEP OF CRUSHING AND GRANULATING THE SOLID MATERIAL, WHEREIN THE PH OF THE AQUEOUS PASTE IS ADJUSTED TO A VALUE WITHIN A RANGE FROM 4.5 TO 6.5, AND THE HEATING IN THE CONCENTRATION STEP IS CONDUCTED IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE TEMPERATURE OF THE CONCENTRATE AT THE OUTLET OF THE CONCENTRATION DRYING APPARATUS IS WITHIN A RANGE FROM 90 TO 140'C.
