Abstract

THE PRESENT INVENTION IS PERTAINING TO A METHOD FOR INFERRING AN EMOTIONAL STATE OF A HUMAN AND GENERATING A RELEVANT FACIAL EXPRESSION USING A SOCIALLY INTERACTIVE HUMANOID ROBOTIC HEAD COMPRISING THE STEPS OF: DETECTING HUMAN’S FACIAL EXPRESSION; CAPTURING SEQUENCE OF IMAGES; ANALYSING THE INPUT IMAGES; EXTRACTING FACIAL COMPONENTS OR FACIAL FEATURE POINTS FROM THE IMAGES TO FORM A FEATURE VECTOR; EXTRACTING THE FEATURE VECTOR; IMAGE FILTERS BY APPLYING TO EITHER THE WHOLE FACE OR SPECIFIC REGIONS IN A FACE IMAGE; CLASSIFYING THE ANALYSED IMAGES IN APPROPRIATE SET OF EMOTIONAL STATES; AND SHOWING THE DETECTED HUMAN’S FACIAL EXPRESSION BY CONTROLLING FACIAL EXPRESSION ELEMENTS OF THE ROBOTIC HEAD; WHEREIN CLASSIFICATION OF THE ANALYSED IMAGES IN APPROPRIATE SET OF EMOTIONAL STATES IS CHARACTERIZED BY IMPLEMENTATION OF DECISION THEORETIC PLANNING WITH MARKOV DECISION PROCESS.
