Abstract

MOMENT RESISTANT BEAM-TO-COLUMN CONNECTION THERE IS DISCLOSED A MOMENT RESISTANT CONNECTION SYSTEM FOR USE IN PRECAST BUILDING STRUCTURE CONSTRUCTION. BY UTILIZING SUCH JOINING SYSTEM, FULL MOMENT 5 FORCES ON THE BEAM COULD BE TRANSFERRED TO THE COLUMN EFFECTIVELY AND THE REQUIREMENT OF THE NORMALLY LONG ANCHORAGE OF REINFORCEMENT BAR IS NO LONGER CRITICAL OR MAY EVEN BE ELIMINATED ALTOGETHER. THE JOINING SYSTEM IS GRAVITY RESISTANT, GENERALLY EASY TO CONSTRUCT, EASY TO MANUFACTURE AND SUBSTANTIALLY EASY IN THE APPLICATION. THE JOINING SYSTEM (1) INCLUDES USE OF REINFORCEMENT 10 BAR (4) AND A PLATE (5) ARRANGED AT THE END SECTION OF THE REINFORCEMENT BAR (4) WHICH ARE POSITIONED WITHIN A VOID (6) IN ONE OF THE CONCRETE MEMBER, AND ONCE THE PLATE (5) AND THE END SECTION OF THE REINFORCEMENT BAR ARE SECURED IN POSITION IN THE VOID, THE VOID (6) WILL BE FILLED WITH WET CONCRETE, GROUT, FINE AGGREGATE OR THE LIKE TO CAST THEM IN POSITION.
