Abstract

A METHOD FOR IMPROVING THE STABILITY OF AN ALUMINUM ELECTROLYTIC CELL IS DISCLOSED, WHEREIN THE CATHODE CARBON BLOCK OF THE ELECTROLYTIC CELL IS PLACED WITH A MASSIVE BODY, WHICH IS MADE OF A MATERIAL RESISTANT TO ELECTROLYTE CORROSION WITH A HIGHER DENSITY THAN THAT OF MOLTEN ALUMINIUM. AN ALUMINUM ELECTROLYTIC CELL IS ALSO DISCLOSED, WHEREIN THE CATHODE CARBON BLOCK OF THE ELECTROLYTIC CELL IS PLACED WITH A MASSIVE BODY, WHICH IS MADE OF A MATERIAL RESISTANT TO ELECTROLYTE CORROSION WITH A HIGHER DENSITY THAN THAT OF MOLTEN ALUMINIUM. BY USING THE DISCLOSED METHOD AND THE ALUMINUM ELECTROLYTIC CELL, THE FORMATION OF PRECIPITATE CAN BE PREVENTED EFFECTIVELY, THE HORIZONTAL FLOW SPEED AND VERTICAL FLUCTUATION EXTENT OF THE MOLTEN ALUMINUM IS REDUCED, THE ANODE-TO-CATHODE DISTANCE AND THE ENERGY CONSUMPTION FOR ALUMINUM ELECTROLYSIS ARE REDUCED, AND THE STABILITY OF THE ALUMINUM ELECTROLYTIC CELL IS IMPROVED.
