Abstract

A method for producing a carbonized product from a fibrous biomass is provided that can obtain a sufficient strength in order to serve as a substitute for coke to act as a heat source for use in melting a waste product in a waste product melting furnace. A carbonized product is produced by shredding a fibrous biomass (palm residue) with a shredder, drying the shredded fibrous biomass in a dryer, granulating the dried fibrous biomass to produce a granulated product such as a pellet, heat and pressure molding the produced granulated product with a molding machine into a hollow, tubular molded product, and carbonizing the obtained hollow, tubular molding.
