Stainless steel wire rod which is excellent in ohmic heating ability and hot lubrication ability,characterized by having a lubricant coating which contains graphite on the surface, an amount of eposition of lubricant coating is 0.1 g/m2 or more, a coefficient of friction at 300°C of the lubricant coating is 0.3 or less, and a volume resistivity of the stainless steel wire rod which contains the lubricant coating on its surface is lx10-4?.m of less.
